William Besford was born at Dam Dykes farm, near Cramlington, Northumberland. He was baptised on 3rd of August 1823 at St. Nicholas’s Parish Church, Cramlington. William’s parents were Robert Besford (1792-1844) and his wife Mary Besford (née Marshall).

Born Henry Besford on 6th October 1921, but always known as Harry, he was the son of George Besford and Maud Besford (née Carter).

Catherine Besford was born on 22nd September 1883 at Bog Row, Hetton-le-Hole, Co. Durham. Catherine was the daughter of George Besford (1852-1935), a coal miner, and his wife Isabella Besford (née Miller).

Two brothers, George Besford and Thomas Besford were tried at the Old Bailey in London on 7th September 1768. They were charged with Theft with Violence: Highway Robbery.

John Besford was the son of John Besford and Mary Besford (née Felton). John was born in Birtley, Northumberland and was baptised at St. Giles Parish Church, Birtley, on 3rd September 1749.

George Besford was the son of John Besford and Mary Besford (née Felton). George was born in 1743 at Countess Park, a farm two miles north of Birtley, Northumberland. He was baptised at St. Giles Parish Church, Birtley, on 31st July 1743.

Margery Besford was the daughter of John Besford and Mary Besford (née
Felton).

Mary Besford was born at Birtley, Northumberland, the sixth child of John Besford (1717-1788) and his wife Mary Besford (née Felton). She was baptised in May 1755 at St. Giles Parish Church, Birtley.
