Edward Besford (28 June 1915 - 12 July 1978) was the son of David Besford (1897-1991) and Rhoda Besford (née Websell). He was born in Northumberland, UK and moved to Australia aged 10. He went on to be an Australian rules footballer and cricketer.

Peter Besford, of 8 Clifford Drive, Oulton Broad, Lowestoft, was the skipper of the Suffolk Kinsman trawler.

He was born on 31 January 1988 in Albania, and moved to the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy as a child.

David and Mary Besford lived at 19 Church Street, Amble until sometime between January 1893 and July 1894, when they moved to Middleton Street, Amble.

Agnes Jane Hewit was born on 20th February 1890 at 2 Middle Steads, Widdrington, Northumberland. Her parents were Alexander Hewit (24) a coal miner, and Dorothy Jane Hewit (née Ferrow) (27).

David Besford was born on 31st August 1919 at 273 Rosalind Street, Ashington, Northumberland. His parents were John William Besford (known as Jack) and Agnes Jane Besford (née Hewit). David was named after his paternal grandfather. When David was born his sister Dorothy Jane (Dora) Besford was just three weeks short of her fourth birthday. The two of them would remain very close throughout their long lives.

He was born at Thropton and baptised at All Saints Church, Rothbury, on 5th September 1680.

George Besford was born at Fenrother, Northumberland, and was baptised on 20th March 1831 at St. Cuthbert’s Parish Church, Hebron. He was the son of Robert Besford (1792-1844) and his wife Mary Besford (née Marshall).

Jack Besford was presented with a grandfather clock by the Ashington Mineworkers Federation when he stood down as president in 1939.
